GOLF
Golf is one of North Carolina's main attractions, and the Wilmington area is home to numerous world-class golf courses and golf communities. Whether you're in the market for golf real estate or just want to have access to great golf all the time, Wilmington can meet your golfing needs. Thanks to its picturesque scenery, beautifully temperate weather, accessibility, relatively low cost of living, and courses designed by the likes of George Cobb, Pete Dye, Tom Fazio, Jack Nicklaus, and Donald Ross, to name a few, Wilmington has even been ranked in the top ten of cities for golf in the entire United States
Bald Head Island Golf Club
Here golf is more than a game. It's also a sightseeing excursion.
Enhancing nature's abundance, the Bald Head Island Club's 18-hole championship golf course winds its way over dunes, around lagoons, along the ocean, and through a maritime forest. Designer George Cobb, who for 20 years was the lead consultant at Augusta National, left much of the terrain the way he found it, creating a course of almost unparalleled wild beauty. Many of the holes are so undisturbed; in fact, they are bordered by the still lively natural habitats of herons, egrets, ibises, foxes and alligators. This George Cobb designed course is only reachable by ferry. Round trip ferry ride is $15.00, and the car parking fee is $5.00. It will be a golfing trip you will not forget!
